(Educational Coalition for Monroe County) Public Schools Plantation Key School Plantation Key School is an "A" rated a public Elementary & Middle School (pre-K to 8th grade) of approximately 600 students who reside in the Florida Keys area from Tavernier to Long Key. Plantation Key School offers after school daycare, intramural sports and school affiliated programs such as Odyssey of the Mind and National Junior Honor Society. For more information on these educational choices, please visit: Florida Department of Education Virtual Schools Florida Department of Education District Virtual Instruction Programs Florida Virtual School Florida Department of Education Home Education Private and Charter Schools Treasure Village Montessori (charter) Treasure Village Montessori Charter School was established on the foundation of the Montessori Island School, a private Montessori elementary program which was established in 1996. This program bases its curriculum on the philosophies of Dr. Maria Montessori, as does the current charter program. A group of parents and key community members organized and wrote a charter in 1998, enabling residents of the Upper Keys the ability to attend an elementary Montessori school free from tuition and transportation constraints. Treasure Village Montessori also provides free and reduced lunch, as well as many other resources, to students through the public school system in a private school setting. Treasure Village Montessori services kindergarten through 6th grade students. Island Christian Church & School Island Christian School provides Islamorada students with a quality, faith-based education. Island Christian School endeavors to create life-long learners and effective communicators who demonstrate their knowledge and understanding through articulate writing, technological savvy and problem-solving skills. Island Christian school firmly believes that their graduates, armed with these skills, will go on to become active, socially responsible members of their community.
